About Me
I am a multidisciplinary artist living in Garner, NC. Primarily a dancer and choreographer, I also have extensive experience in arts administration, production and event management. I have incorporated mural painting into my practice as well as writing.
In 2022, shortly before moving to North Carolina, I felt it was correct for me to step away from pursuing my artistic practice. I was overstressed and burnt out. I needed to recover from physical symptoms I had developed through working hard to build a successful career.
I focused on teaching yoga and meditation and became a stress management coach.
My approach to the creative process is similar to my approach to coaching: through deep listening, clarifying my intention and repetition over time, I guide and nurture what comes through in support of what feels the most true and has the most integrity.
To date, my proudest artistic achievement is Two Can Do. Through Two Can Do, I’ve not only been able to perform, tour, participate in residencies and win awards… I’ve also been able to create workshops, professional development opportunities and a movement practice called Embodied Contemplation.
The bones of Embodied Contemplation are what inform my mindful movement practices that I use with my stress management clients.
My artistic practice has been a backbone throughout my life. I trust that as it calls me back, I will be able to integrate both experiences into an even more holistic approach to the creative process.
My current mission: Supporting people to improve the quality of their lives through movement, neuroscience and the creative process.
My vision: A world with a little less fear of death.
My values:
- Creativity – Honoring the creative process as it unfolds and being humble enough to nurture its unpredictability and magic.
- Legacy – Creating something that leaves its mark and honors where I’ve come from and supporting others to do the same.
- Family – Loving family fiercely and honoring their stories through everything I do.
- Ritual – Adding intention to my action in order to make honor the sacredness of life.
- Repetition – Reverently repeating what I wish to embody so that it becomes a part of my living legacy.
- Movement – Embracing moving my body to cultivate my well-being and sharing my skills with others.
- Stillness – Moments of pause in order to reflect, reorient and remember.
Currently visioning: I am looking forward to contributing to my local community through community art projects with performances that couple with canvas mural painting workshops that explore grief, creativity, love and legacy.
Presently seeking: Opportunities to teach as an adjunct in somatic practices, dance and choreography, and artist in residence opportunities, alongside continuing to work with my private clients.
